It was one of those bright, spring afternoons when the snow sparkles and you have to squint more because of the reflection off the snow than the sun. Beautiful in every Alaskan way...

Cousins

A beautiful, sunny, spring day and four bright, cheerful faces... it doesn't get much better than that. These cousins were all together for the first time and we captured this moment in time for them. I have known most of the parents since they were all in high school. Kayaked and rafted with one of the grandma's and loved all of their extended family for a long time. So it was fun to get to know the next generation.

The Final Touches

June in Alaska. They had a great location and nearly perfect weather. And I had the honor of photographing it all. March in Alaska. A new house built for his bride. White walls in need of art. And I had the honor of helping Mayerly and Luke hang their photos from their beautiful wedding. It was so much fun to hang out with them again and see their walls transformed by art. I think their newly decorated walls look amazing!

Spring is Coming.

Spring is coming. How can I tell?

The sun is setting well past 6pm now.
The Iditarod starts tomorrow.
I feel the travel bug itching my feet daily, (too bad it is a frugal insect).
The snow is looking dingy from melting.
The words 'Spring Break' are said gleefully by young and old.
All things pastel and 'Easter' are seen in the stores.
Target thinks that we should all be buying sun dresses and tank tops(however, highs in the 30's discourage this practice unless you are one of the lucky ones going to warm places for Spring Break).
Alaskans can be seen wearing only light jackets and long sleeve shirts as they declare it to be a warm day (highs in the 30's can be deceiving with the sun warming us again).
Cars are showing the tell tale signs of 'break up'. A thick coat of road slime that disguises the actual color of all vehicles except the one just pulling out of the car wash.


So here is to the powerful hope of Spring. We are so glad that it comes each year.

Anaya Family

When Katie asked me to photograph her sweet family, I was honored and a little nervous. She is an awesome photographer herself and you always want to give another photographer your very best. We didn't have the best weather for this shoot, but we did have some of the cutest kids ever. Thanks for a fun afternoon with your family, Katie and John!

A Sweet Valentine

She was just as cute when I met her in 7th grade. It has been fun to watch Natalie grow into such an amazing young woman. And now she has Xavier to walk beside her. We had a beautiful Valentine's Day to do these engagement photos. This breath-taking view can be seen on the shores of the Matanuska River. Pioneer Peak is such a great backdrop for any photoshoot.

I can't wait to photograph their wedding this summer.

Blue Eyes

This adorable little guy was so sweet to photograph. His parents just beam every time he throws a smile their way and you can see why. His big blue eyes and long eyelashes are awesome!

Thinking of Sun

In honor of the daylight returning - we are gaining more than 5 minutes a day - I thought I would share a few summer photos that remind me of the warmth of summer. It is too bad that spring is so far away yet. But there is hope pouring out of these photos for everyone who is living through the frigid temperatures of winter with me.

Family Fun

This fun family spent a chilly Sunday afternoon with me along the Matanuska River. The extended family was up for the holidays and they wanted a photo memory of their Alaskan Christmas.

Anchorage Wedding Fair

Sunday I stepped into a ballroom to set up a 10x10 curtained space with the essence of me and my photography. I had spent countless hours making decisions and changing my mind and fretting over what the day would be like. It was the Anchorage Wedding Fair ... my first wedding fair. If you saw me there and stopped by to say hello and talk to me. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! You have no idea how much it meant to me that you made eye contact and answered, "When are you getting married?" for what I am sure was the 100th time that day. And if you were one of the handful of people that stopped long enough to sit in my pink chair... you made my day and I want to buy you loads of chocolate. But if you were the girls that asked me to take a photo with your iphone of you in my pink chair... you bring tears to my eyes and I want you to be my new best friends.

Thanks to all the amazing women that I met. I can't wait to hear about your wedding!

Samples

With the Anchorage Wedding Fair last weekend, I have been busy getting some projects finished up and printed to show off. I am so excited about how these turned out.

This first one is a mini 4x4 album printed on photographic paper, mounted beautifully, and bound with leather. The bride album that I offer in my collections is the larger 10x10 version of this book. This little 4x4 album is an exact copy of the bride's album but is perfect to add to a collection as a parent gift.


They even come with a stylish cloth slip cover.




I created this book from Liz and Jordan's Engagement Session. I designed it as a guestbook that they will use in place of a traditional guestbook at the wedding. Guests can write notes and sign the white spaces around the couple's amazing photos. Then the guestbook becomes a treasure of photos and notes from guests. I was able to show this sample to Liz at the Wedding Fair yesterday, and she was so excited about it that she kept sending friends and family by the booth to see it.



These books have a hinged binding so that they lay flat.




Printed on gorgeous heavy paper, the images look amazing.


This album has a custom designed cover.
